Procedure
6.85 g of methoxylamine hydrochloride is added to 10 g of 3-acetyl pyridine in 50 cm3 of methanol and the whole is heated to reflux for 3 hours. The solvent is eliminated under reduced pressure, the residue is taken up in water, alkanlized with potassium carbonate and extracted with ethyl acetate. After evaporating, 11 g of the expected product is recovered. (b.p.: 115°-118° C. under 18 mm Hg).
