5 ml of a 1N aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide is added to a solution of 0.52 g (1.5 mmol) of the 4-(3-ethoxycarbonylpropyl)amino-6,7,8-trimethoxyquinazoline obtained in Example 1 in tetrahydrofuran (5 ml)/ethanol (5 ml), followed by stirring at room temperature one whole day and night. The reaction liquid is neutralized with 5 ml of 1N hydrochloric acid, and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The crystals thus precipitated are recovered by filtration, washed with water, and dried with air. Thus, 0.36 g (yield 744%) of a pale-yellow crystal is obtained.
