Procedure

A mixture of the thiol (D5) (26 g, 99 mmol), anhydrous K2CO3 (15.12 g, 109 mmol) and iodomethane (18.6 ml, 300 mmol) in dry DMF (100 ml) was heated at 80° C. for 1 h. The reaction mixture was cooled, evaporated in vacuo and partitioned between water (200 ml) and dichloromethane (3×200 ml). The combined organics were washed with water (400 ml), dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated to yield the title compound (26.3 g, 97%) as a yellow oil.
