Procedure
Gaseous HCl is passed during 0.5 hour through a solution of 3 g of 2-cyanomethyl-1,3-bis(acetylthio)propane, obtained according to Example XIX e), and 1.8 g of methanol in 30 ml tetrahydrofurane; temperature 40°-55° C. The solution is evaporated; diethylether is added to the residue. The precipitate formed is aspirated off, washed with diethylether and dried. The second title compound, viz. 4-acetylthiomethyl-2-iminothiolane is obtained as its HCl sale in a yield of 600 rag; m.p. 186°-188° C. (decomp.). Identification by 1H NMR and 13C NMR. The compound can equally be converted to the free base.
