The synthesis was carried out in the same manner as described in Example 3a, except that 50.0 g (0.28 mol) of 2,6-diisopropylphenol and 22.0 g (0.31 mol) of propyleneoxide were used instead of 350 g (2.33 mol) of 2-tert-butylphenol and 176 g (2.45 mol) of 1,2-butyleneoxide. 59.5 g of 1-(2,6-diisopropylphenyloxy)-2-propanol (bp. 138° C./5 mm Hg) were obtained in a 90% yield.
