Procedure

4-(6-(3-Nitrophenyl)-1H-indol-1-yl)pyrimidin-2-amine (76.8 mg, 0.232 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol and, after adding SnCl2.2H2O (262 mg, 1.159 mmol), the mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was added to sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layer was washed with brine, dried with magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. Purification of the residue by column chromatography (silica gel, MC:MeOH=20:1) yielded 4-(6-(3-aminophenyl)-1H-indol-1-yl)pyrimidin-2-amine (42 mg).
