Procedure
To a solution of 3-(3-methyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-f]quinolin-2-yl)butanoic acid (200 mg, 0.74 mmol) in oxalyl chloride (8 mL) and DCM (8 mL) was added DMF (5 mg). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The mixture was concentrated to dryness to give the product as a yellow solid (160 mg, 75% yield). See, e.g., Indian Journal of Chemistry, Section B: Organic Chemistry Including Medicinal Chemistry, 2000, 294-296; Tetrahedron Letters, 2000, 4165-4168.
