Potassium cyanide (2 g) was added to a solution of the product from step (ii) in DMF (20 ml) and DMSO (10 ml) and the mixture stirred at rt for 18 h. The mixture was flushed with nitrogen for 20 min, then diluted with brine (80 ml), stirred for 10 min and the precipitate filtered, washed with water then ether and dried to afford the subtitle compound, 2.46 g.
