Procedure
A solution of 3-bromo-9,10-dihydro-6H-spiro[azepino[2,1-b]quinazoline-8,2′-[1,3]dioxolan]-12(7H)-one (0.5 g, 1.43 mmol) and 4N HCl (4 mL) in THF (20 mL) was heated at reflux for 4 h. After it was cooled to rt, the reaction mixture was quenched with aq. Na2CO3 and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×50 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4. After filtration and concentration, the residue was purified by silica gel chromatography to give the desired product.
