Procedure
4′-Hydroxy-3′-(pyridazin-4-yl)biphenyl-3-carbonitrile (Preparation 119, 330 mg, 1.21 mmol) and potassium carbonate (334 mg, 2.42 mmol) were dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide (7 mL). Then 5-chloro-N-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-2,4-difluoro-N-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)benzenesulfonamide (Preparation 16, 558 mg, 1.21 mmol) was added and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Water (15 mL) and ethyl acetate (25 mL) were added and the two layers were separated. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel eluting with 10% dichloromethane in ethyl acetate to give the title compound (561 mg, 65%).
