Procedure
Compound 77 (0.302 g, 0.44 mmol) was dissolved in glacial acetic acid (20 mL). Pd(OH)2 (80 mg) was added and the mixture was charged with H2 (160 psi) in a Parr hydrogenator and stirred over night at room temperature. The reaction was found to be complete according to TLC (product stains bright purple after staining with ninhydrin). Pd(OH)2 was filtered off and the solvent was removed in vacuo to afford the pure product 78 as the triacetate salt.
