A mixture of 3-(5-phenylthiophen-2-yl)pyridin-2-amine (250 mg) in dehydrated THF (10 ml) was added to a mixture of sodium hydride (60%, 198 mg) and 2-chloroethanesulfonyl chloride (485 mg) in dehydrated THF (10 ml) under ice-cooling, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was added to water, and the resulting precipitate was washed with water and diisopropyl ether to give the title compound (262 mg) as a yellow solid. The obtained solid was crystallized from acetonitrile to give a yellow solid.
