1-(2,3-Dichlorophenyl)piperazine hydrochloride (3.16 g, 11.8 mmol) and potassium carbonate (4.08 g, 29.5 mmol) were added to the solution of 2-(2-bromoethyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione (3 g, 11.8 mmol) in DMF (20 ml). The resulting reaction mixture was stirred for overnight at room temperature. After reaction complete, water (40 ml) was added thereto and then normal work-up was taken. The residue thus obtained was purified with normal phase preparative column to afford the title compound (3.87 g, 81% yield) as white solid.
