(2-Chloro-8-methylquinolin-3-yl)methanol (200 mg, 0.97 mmol) and pyrrolidine (2 mL) were stirred in a sealed tube at 100° C. for 4 h. After cooling, the solution was diluted with EtOAc and washed with water and brine. The organic layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered and the solvent was removed in vacuo. Purification by column chromatography on silica, eluting with 20% EtOAc in isohexane, gave the title compound (206 mg, 88%). δH (CDCl3) 7.86 (1H, s), 7.46 (1H, d, J=8.01 Hz), 7.40 (1H, d, J=7.04 Hz), 7.13 (1H, t, J=7.50 Hz), 4.85 (2H, s), 3.72 (4H, t, J=6.36 Hz), 2.65 (3H, s), 2.12 (1H, s), 2.03-1.96 (4H, m).
