Procedure
Phosphorus oxychloride (182 mg) was added to a mixture of 5 ml of dichloromethane and 145 mg of N,N-dimethylformamide at 25° C. After the mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 1 hour, 1 ml of a methylene chloride solution containing 200 mg of the 2,5-dimethyl-4-(3,3-dimethyl-1-butynyl)aniline (Compound 4-25) produced in Production Example 2 was added dropwise thereto. The mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 2.5 hours, and the reaction solution was then poured into ice water. The pH was adjusted to 11 with an aqueous 1 N potassium hydroxide solution, and extraction was performed 3 times with dichloromethane. The organic layer was collected, washed with a saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (n-hexane:ethyl acetate=3:1), thereby obtaining 30 mg of N,N-dimethyl-N′-[2,5-dimethyl-4-(3,3-dimethyl-1-butynyl)phenyl]formamidine (Compound 52).
