432 mg (1 mmol) Methanesulfonic acid 5-[1-(4-bromo-phenyl)-1H-indol-5-yl]-pent-4-ynyl ester in 30 ml EtOAc/EtOH/hexane (1:1:1) was hydrogenated in the presence of 20 mg PtO2, the solution was filtered and evaporated. Column chromatography on silica gel with hexane/EtOAc 4:1 yielded (95%) Methanesulfonic acid 5-[1-(4-bromo-phenyl)-1H-indol-5-yl]-pentyl ester as colorless viscous oil, MS: 435 (M, 1Br).
