Procedure

A portion (1.09 g) of the compound obtained in Example 75 was dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide (20 ml) and to the solution were added potassium carbonate (1.14 g) and methyl bromoacetate (0.43 ml). The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature. After adding water, the reaction mixture was extracted three times with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure and the residue was crystallized from ether to yield 1.18 g (85%) of the titled compound as a yellowish brown powder.
