9-Bromo-nonanoic acid (5 gm; 21.1 mmoles) was dissolved in dioxane (50 ml) and the free guanidine solution from A was added. The mixture was refluxed overnight, and the white precipitate was filtered and washed three times with cold water and then lyophilized from one equivalent of 0.5 M HCl. The yield was 2.77 g (85%) and the structure of the title compound was verified by FAB-MS, NMR, and elemental analysis.
