To a stirred mixture of 4.1 g (0.018 mole) of 3-(4-fluoro-3-phenoxyphenyl)-1-propene and 0.060 g (0.00015 mole) of hydrogen hexachloroplatinate hydrate in 15 mL of tetrahydrofuran was added slowly 2.0 g (0.021 mole) of dimethylchlorosilane. Upon completion of addition the reaction mixture was stirred overnight and then was used without further purification.
