A solution of give tert-butyl 4-{[7-({[3-cyano-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-amino}carbonyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yl]oxy}pyridine-2-carboxylate (0.750 g, 1.40 mmol) in 2M HCl in dioxane (15 mL) was allowed to stir at rt overnight and then evaporated to give 4-{[7-({[3-cyano-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]amino}carbonyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yl]oxy}pyridine-2-carboxylic acid (0.788 g), which was used without further purification.
