10 g of 3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-propen-1-one are dissolved in 100 g of tetrahydrofuran, combined with 0.2 g of Pd on activated carbon (Pd content: 5 wt. %, water content approx. 50 wt. %, in each case relative to the total mass of the catalyst) and hydrogenated at standard pressure and room temperature (approx. 20° C.) After removal of the catalyst and the solvent, 9 g of 3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propan-1-one are obtained. Yield: 89% of theoretical
