Procedure

1.7 A solution of 30.98 g of N-(2-methylphenyl)-3-bromo-4,6-dibenzyloxybenzamide hydrazone in 200 ml of THF is slowly added at 45-50° to a solution of 11.67 g of 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole in 1 l of THF. The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes, the solvent is removed, and the residue is subjected to conventional work-up, giving 26 g of 5-(2,4-dibenzyloxy-5-bromophenyl)-4-(2-methylphenyl)-3-hydroxy-4H-1,2,4-triazole, Rf 2.25.

Workup

  1. customthe solvent is removed
