3g was synthesised by an analogous procedure to that described for 3a using 2g (1 g, 2.79 mmol) and CrCl3(THF)3 (1.04 g, 2.79 mmol). Yield 1.07 g (74%). Anal. Calc. for C22H25Cl3CrN5 (in %): C, 51.03; H, 4.87; N, 13.52. Found C, 50.93; H, 4.71; N, 13.64. IR (KBr, cm−1), υ 3225 (NH, s), υ 1623-1540 (ArC═C, C═N, m), δ 1455, 1478, 1496 (N—H, s, m), υ 1276 (CN, m), δ 750 (CH, s). UV-VIS (DMF, 298 K): λmax/nm (εmax/dm3 mol−1 cm−1)=459 (160), 704 (65), 733 (shoulder). +FAB-MS: (m/z): 481 ([M-Cl]+), 446 ([M-2Cl]), 360 ([M-CrCl3]). μeff·=3.88 MB.
