Procedure
A solution of ethyl 2,4-difluoro-3-benzylamino-butanoate prepared as in Step B (1.240 g, 4.8 mM) in 1 N hydrochloric acid (30 ml) is heated at 100° C. for 4 hours. The solvent is removed in vacuo. The crude product is taken off several times in isopropanol and the alcohol evaporated evaporated in vacuo. 2,4-Difluoro 3-benzylamino-butanoic acid, hydrochloride is obtained as a white solid, recrystallized from ethanol/ether: 1.010 g (yield about 80%).
