In the same manner as described in Referential Example 13, 3.0 g of p-dodecyloxybenzoic acid chloride and 2.0 g of p-benzyloxyphenol were dissolved in 50 ml of tetrahydrofuran, 1.5 g of triethylamine was added to the solution, and reaction was carried out at room temperature overnight. The obtained 4-benzyloxyphenyl 4-dodecyloxybenzoate was isolated, and reduction was carried out under a hydrogen pressure of 25 kg/cm2 by using Pd/C as the catalyst to obtain 2.3 g of 4-hydroxyphenyl 4-dodecyloxybenzoate.
