The title compound was prepared from 2-chlorobenzimidazole and 3,3-diphenyl-propylamine by Procedure A. The reaction mixture was added dilute aqueous HCl and CH2Cl2. From the CH2Cl2 phase a precipitate was isolated by filtration yielding the title compound in pure form as its HCl salt (mp 136.5-137.5° C.). MS(ES+) m/z 328 ([M+1]+, 100). 1NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 2.43 (m, 2H), 3.28 (m, 2H), 4.15 (t, 1H), 7.15-7.35 (m, 14H), 9.00 (m, 1H), 12.7 (br s, 1H).
