Procedure

Potassium tert-butoxide (52 mg, 0.46 mmol) was added to a solution of di-tert-butyl imidodicarbonate (100 mg, 0.46 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (1 mL). After 5 min, 1-bromo-3-methylbut-2-ene (54 μL, 0.46 mmol) was added. After 3 h, saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (3×). The combined organic extracts were washed with saturated brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. MS 286.2 (M+1).
