LiOH.H2O (93 mg, 2.2 mmol) was added to a solution of 3-oxo-3-[4-(3,4,5-trifluoro-benzoyl)-piperazin-1-yl]-propionic acid ethyl ester (400 mg, 1.1 mmol) in a mixture of methanol (2 mL), THF (5 mL) and H2O (2 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. The mixture was then concentrated and the residue was diluted with water, washed with diethyl ether and acidified with concentrated HCl. The residue was extracted with ethyl acetate and concentrated to afford 230 mg (62%) of 3-oxo-3-[4-(3,4,5-trifluoro-benzoyl)-piperazin-1-yl]-propionic acid. LCMS: 331.09 (M+1)+, 90.2%, 1H NMR: (CDCl3): δ 7.0 (t, 2H), 3.7 (s, 4H), 3.5 (m, 6H).
