Procedure

NaH (384 mg) was added to a solution of (±)-3-benzyloxy-1,2-propanediol (0.659 ml) in THF (15 ml). The mixture was stirred for 30 min at RT and iodomethane (0.606 ml) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred on at RT. MeOH was added, then water and the mixture was extracted with DCM. The org. phases were dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated off to afford 841 mg of the desired compound.
