Procedure

Dissolve 5-bromo-2-fluoronitrobenzene (28.8 mmol, 3.55 mL), 3-amino-azetidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (28.8 mmol, 4.96 g), and triethylamine (35.9 mmol, 5.00 mL) in ethyl acetate (100 mL) and reflux under nitrogen for 48 h. Cool to room temperature. Wash with 0.5 M hydrochloric acid twice, dry over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filter, and concentrate in vacuo to obtain a bright orange solid (11.04 g, >100%). LC-MS m/z (79Br/81Br) 394.0/396.0 [M+H]+.
