To a solution of (2-aminobenzo[d]thiazol-6-yl)methanol (1.90 g, 10.5 mmol, 1.0 eq.) in THF (75 mL) under nitrogen was added MnO2 (14 g, 161 mmol, 15.3 eq.). After stirring overnight, the reaction solution was filtered through Celite and rinsed with THF. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give 2-aminobenzo[d]thiazole-6-carbaldehyde as a yellow solid (1.64 g, 87% yield).
