tert-Butyl 7-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-oxo-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nonane-1-carboxylate was dissolved in a 4.0 M solution of HCl in 1,4-dioxane, and the resulting mixture was stirred for 2 h at RT. The volatiles were removed in vacuo to afford the desired product, which was used in the next step without further purification. LC-MS: 251.0 (M+1H)+.
