To a solution of 2-[1-(2-chlorophenyl)-1-methylethyl]-1-[3′-(methylsulfonyl)biphenyl-4-yl]-4-pyrrolidin-2-yl-1H-imidazole in THF was added triethylamine, followed by methylchlorocarbonate. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 min. After a routing aqueous work up, the crude product was purified by prep HPLC to give methyl 2-{2-[1-(2-chlorophenyl)-1-methylethyl]-1-[3′-(methylsulfonyl)biphenyl-4-yl]-1H-imidazol-4-yl}pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate: 1H NMR (CD3OD): δ 1.6 (m, 3H,), 1.8 (m, 1H), 1.9-2.3 (m, 5H), 3.2 (s, 3H), 3.4 (m, 1H), 3.7 (m, 4H), 4.6 (m, 1H), 5.1 (m, 1H), 6.9 (m, 1H), 7.2 (m, 6H), 7.7 (m, 3H), 7.95 (m, 2H), 8.2 (m, 1H); LC/MS M+H 578 (observed).
