A solution of tert-butyl 4-(5-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)piperazine-1-carboxylate (5 g) in a 2M solution of HCl in ether (100 mL) was stirred at RT for 6 hours. The solvent was removed under vacuum to afford 4.3 g (93%) of the title compound as a solid. TLC—Chloroform/methanol (8/2): Rf=0.2. HPLC purity: 97%.
