Procedure
To a solution of 22-1 (0.8 g, 1.7 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (3 ml) was added 3N HCl (1.1 ml, 3.4 mmol) dropwise. After stirring for 10 min the solution was treated with hydroxylamine hydrochloride (0.5 g, 6.9 mmol) in water (0.5 ml). The mixture was stirred for 1 h and was then quenched with NaHCO3(s) until pH=8. Upon solvent removal the residue was taken up in water, filtered, and dried azeotropically with toluene to afford 22-2 as a solid.
