Procedure

A mixture of 4.06 g of the amidoxime from Example 14 Part A, 150 mL of THF and 1.98 g of carbonyldiimidazole was heated at reflux for 7 hours, cooled to 25° C., and stirred another 16 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in 600 mL of EtOAc, washed with H2O and dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. The residue, obtained after filtration and evaporation of the solvent, was recrystallized from EtOH to give 3.11 g of 3-[(4-(2-(2-phenyl-4-oxazolyl)ethoxy)phenyl)-methyl]1,2,4-oxadiazolin-5-one, (71% mp 154.5°-157.5° C.).
