A mixture of 1-(2,4-dichloro-3-chloromethylphenyl)-2-[4-(methylcarbamoyl)cinnamoylaminomethyl]pyrrole (50 mg), 2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline (17 mg) and potassium carbonate (44 mg) in N,N-dimethylformamide (2 ml) was stirred at ambient temperature for 1 day. The mixture was poured into water and extracted with chloroform. The organic layer was washed with water and brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated in vacuo. The residue was purified by preparative thin-layer chromatography on silica gel to give 1-[2,4-dichloro-3-(2-methylquinolin-8-yloxymethyl)phenyl]-2-[4-(methylcarbamoyl)-cinnamoylaminomethyl]pyrrole (40 ml) as an amorphous powder.
