Procedure
A mixture of intermediate 29 (0.026 mol) in a solution of HCl in 2 propanol (15 ml) and CH3OH (110 ml) was stirred and refluxed for 1 hour. The solvent was evaporated. The residue was taken up in H2O/CH2Cl2. The mixture was alkalized with NaOH. The organic layer was separated, dried, filtered and the solvent was evaporated, yielding 4.95 g (69%) of N-[1-[(4-fluorophenyl)methyl]-1H-imidazol-2-yl]-4-piperidinamine (intermediate 30).
