Dihydroartemisinin (50 mg) was dissolved in dry ethanol (3 ml). Add 2 ml of triethylorthoformate and anhydrous AlCl3 (33 mg) was added in the reaction vessel. The reaction mixture was refluxed at 40° C. for 45 min over oil bath with constant stirring. After 45 mins of stirring the reaction product was worked up as mention in the example-3. The pure arteether yielded (45 mg).
