Procedure
Solid 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-N-(3-pyridinyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-3-acetamide (0.50 g) was dissolved in isopropyl alcohol and acidified with excess ethereal hydrogen chloride to produce a crystalline precipitate. The solid was collected, washed with ether, and dried under high vacuum at room temperature overnight to give 0.58 g (91%), mp 189°-91° C.
