Procedure

Compound 20 was dissolved in TFA (1.5 ml) and water (0.75 ml) was added thereto. The resulting mixture was stirred at 40° C. for 16 hours. After cooling the mixture to room temperature, water and chloroform were added, followed by addition of 10% NaHCO3 (20 ml), while maintaining an acidic pH of the solution. The organic layer was separated, washed twice with water, dried over Na2SO4 and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give an orange solid. Chromatography purification was carried out using with a 8:2 ethyl acetate:methanol mixture as eluent to give Compound 21 (38.3 mg, 88% yield) as a yellow solid.
