A mixture of 3-amino-4-chloro benzonitrile (13, 0.50 g, 3.28 mmol) and potassium O-ethyl dithiocarbonate (1.05 g, 6.55 mmol) in DMF (15 mL) was heated overnight at 110-120° C. under N2. After cooling, the reaction mixture was diluted with water and acidified with 1N HCl. The precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with water, and dried under vacuum to yield 14 (0.48 g, 76%).
