A solution of 6,7-bis(octadecylcarbamoyloxy)-4-thiaheptanoic acid t-butyl ester as obtained in Reference Example 7 (1010 mg) in trifiuoroacetic acid (3 ml)-dichloromethane (0.5 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour, followed by solvent concentration under reduced pressure, to yield the title compound (938 mg, yield 99%) as a colorless solid.
