Procedure
A solution [2-(4-Hydroxy-phenyl)-5-phenyl-pyrrol-1-yl]-acetic acid methyl ester (0.1 mmol) in DMF (1 mL) is added phenethyl bromide (0.2 mmol) followed by K2CO3 (80 mg, 578 μmol). The mixture is heated without agitation overnight at 60° C. and monitored by TLC. The mixtures are cooled, water (2 mL) and CH2Cl2 (2 mL) are added, vortexed, centrifuged and the organics separated. The process is repeated with solely CH2Cl2 (1 mL). The organics are combined and concentrated in vacuo.
