N-(4-bromo-3-methyl-5-isoxazolyl)-2-(4-methoxybenzyl)-benzo[b]thiophene-3-sulfonamide was prepared by the method of Example 41 with 4-bromo-3-methyl-5-aminoisoxazole (0.48 mmoles, 85 mg), NaH (1.2 mmoles, 48 mg), 2-(4-methoxybenzyl)-benzo[b]thiophene-3-sulfonylchloride (0.53 mmoles, 0.19 g) and THF (3 ml). Flash chromatography (50% ethyl acetate/hexanes) followed by recrystallization from methanol and water provided 46 mg (20%) of a white crystalline solid, m.p. 120-122° C.
