Procedure

Chlorodimethyl(1,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2,3-dimethyl-s-indacen-1-yl) silane (3.537 g, 0.01217 moles) was stirred in hexane (50 mL) as NEt3 (1.94 g, 0.01916 moles) and t-butylamine (1.12 g, 0.01533 moles) were added. This mixture was allowed to stir 16 hours. After the reaction period the mixture was filtered and the volatiles removed resulting in the isolation of the desired product as a light yellow oil (3.537 g, 88.6 percent).
