Procedure

Cyanogen bromide (2.75 g) was added in one portion to a suspension of 3-(6-fluoro-1H-indazol-3-yl)-8-methyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (4.90 g) and potassium carbonate (2.75 g) in 70 ml of THF at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 2 hours, then diluted with water and the product was extracted into ethyl acetate. The organic solution was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to leave 3.4 g of crude solids. The solids were purified by flash chromatography over silica gel and recrystallized from ethanol to yield 1.15 g of the desired product, m.p. 182°-184° C.
