4-[2-(2-Oxiranyl)ethoxy]benzonitrile (38.5 g, 204 mmol; from step (d) above) was mixed with NH3 (1200 mL, conc.) and isopropanol (450 mL). The mixture was stirred at r.t for 24 h. The solid (by-product) was filtered off and the solvents were evaporated, to give 39.1 g (93%) of sub-title compound.
