Procedure

tert-Butyl 2-(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)-docosa-4,7,10,13,16,19-hexaenamidoethylcarbamate (600 mg, 1.27 mmol) was taken up in 2 mL of EtOAc along with 2 mL of saturated HCl in EtOAc at 0° C. The resulting reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. Saturated aqueous Na2CO3 was added to adjust the pH=8. The organic layer was separated, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 470 mg of the (4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)—N-(2-aminoethyl)docosa-4,7,10,13,16,19-hexaenamide (98% yield).
