Lithium hydroxide monohydrate (4.3 mg, 0.10 mmol) is dissolved in water (1.0 mL) and it is added into the solution of 2,2-Dimethyl-3-[3-(4-methyl-benzo[b]thiophen-3-ylmethyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl]-propionic acid methyl ester (28 mg, 0.069 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (2.0 mL) at room temperature. The mixture is stirred for 60 hr and LCMS then 1.0 M HCl solution (1.0 mL) is added followed by water (15 mL). Then the mixture is extracted with EtOAc (3×30 mL) and the organic layers are combined, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated to give 25 mg (90%) of 2,2-Dimethyl-3-[3-(4-methyl-benzo[b]thiophen-3-ylmethyl)-2-oxo-2,3dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl]propionic acid. LCMS (ESMS): m/z 395.17 (M+H+).
